Apparently this marriage thing involves doing some stuff The Husband is interested in.  This week-end that meant driving to Portsmouth to see some boat and visit the maritime museum.

Portsmouth is the first place we’ve been that smells like the sea.

I learned many things about Admiral Nelson.

– Nelson joined the Royal Navy at age 13, was made a lietenant at 19 and captain at 21.

– In the course of duty he was shot in the head and stomach.  He was blind in one eye due to injury and lost his right arm.

– He was 5′-5″ or 5′-6″ which was above average height for a man at the time.

For many years this image was thought to be Nelson’s death mask, but later was learned to have been made while he was still alive and is the closest likeness of him.

Everybody likes to take credit for the phrase “3 square meals a day.”

I enjoyed the many mastheads and ships seals.
