The Christmas Carol Files

Tuesday 10:30 am Student Matinee

You are thinking 10:30 seems awfully early for presenting theatre to 1100 screaming yutes?  Yes, I agree completely.

In fact, they were very well behaved.  Perhaps too well behaved.  At the end of Act I they sat in absolute silence.  Scrooge exited stage left in the black-out then started his own applause.

A few school groups stayed for a post-show discussion with the child actors.  Adult actors too, but they’re not in such a rush to get back on-stage to claim their fame.

Question:  Why is there a person in the Christmas Yet To Come costume?

Answer:  It’s easier to use an actor than a robot.

So the pre show speech was effective? I think that sometimes the kids are so scared to make a sound that they don’t feel like they can respond.

The pre-show speech is very effective.

I feel like there’s very little chance for a happy medium. Either the kids are scared witless or they’ll be loud and rude.
